He said that the Sher-e-Kashmir worked with eminent national and international leaders, like Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and strove for strengthening the cherished values of secularism and democracy. Describing him as a visionary leader, the Governor observed that Sheikh Abdullah nurtured a dream envisaging peace and progress of the three regions of the State. He recalled that this great leader had upheld the high values of J&K's composite culture at the time of partition when communal frenzy had engulfed the entire sub-continent. The Governor said that, at this juncture, the best tribute which could be paid to this great leader would be to work zealously to realize Sheikh Sahib's cherished dream of communal amity and peace in the State. |
