Two top ultras among five killed

Two top militant commanders and two soldiers were killed in different incidents of insurgency across the state in past 24 hours while a kid lost life to a shell explosion in Poonch district.
In Sopore security forces killed two Divisional Commanders of LeT and JeM in two separate encounters in Sopore area. Police in a tip off about the presence of some militants at Warpora Mohalla in Sopore with 179 Bn CRPF and 22 RR rushed towards the spot during the wee hours today and laid a search operation of the area. As the security forces were engaged in cordoning off the area, militants opened heavy fire on them which was equally retaliated and in a fierce encounter which lasted for hours together, divisional commander of Jesh- e Mohammad outfit Barakutallah Ansari was killed. During this encounter four personnel of 9 para got injured. In an another encounter security forces in a joint cordon search operation at village Badshah Mohalla Danger Pora Sopore killed LeT Divisional Commander.The joint party of police and security forces came under heavy fire of militants near link road .In retaliation one militant of LeT outfit identified as Mohd Abid Ali alias Qari Usman got killed .During encounter one personnel of 22RR was also injured .Qari was active in J&K since 8 years. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered at both encounter sites which includes Ak rifles 02, (one damaged) AK Magazine 9(2 damaged),Rounds 90, Pistol1(damaged) Mobile phones 3(damaged), Satellite Phone 1 (damaged) and damaged battery cells 2 .Police have registered case in this regard.Where as one army jawan was killed and two others were wounded when an operation party of security forces was ambushed by heavily armed militants in the upper reaches of Ramban district, late on Saturday evening.Army received specific inputs on Saturday afternoon that a group of eight to nine militants were moving in the upper reaches of Kawna hamlet in Khari area of Ramban district.Troops immediately swung into action and launched a massive search operation in the area. When the troops were cordoning off the area they came under heavy fire from the militants, who were hiding in the forest area in which one jawan, identified as Sepoy Surya Babu was killed on the spot, while two others sustained bullet injuries. The injured jawans identified as Dinesh and Vikram were airlifted to Command Hospital Udhampur. However, the operation was suspended, last evening, in view of the darkness, the operation resumed in the morning but militants managed to break the cordon. Army and police on the other hand claimed that the operation was in progress till this evening. Upper reaches of Ramban district are usually used as transit camps by the militant groups who move from Poonch to Kashmir Valley or mountainous Doda and Kishtwar districts. It was learnt that army has already received inputs about the movement of militants in the region. "It is after more than two years that fresh militant movement is reported from these areas", a senior police officer said.
Where as in another incident a child was killed and three minor brothers were wounded when a shell they were playing with exploded in a remote village of Surankote tehsil, this morning.The children, aged between eight and 11 years went to the forest area to graze their cattle where they found the unexploded shell and started playing with it.
The shell went off, injuring four children, including a minor girl residents of the area said, adding one of them later succumbed to her injuries on way to the hospital.The deceased has been identified as nine year old Tazia daughter of Samad Sheikh. The injured were Ashraf Ahmed (9), Muhammad Ashraf and Jameel Ahmed (10) all sons of Ishaq Ahmed.They were taken to district hospital Poonch from where sensing their condition critical they were later airlifted to GMC Hospital Jammu where doctors operating them declared their condition
critical.Later speaking to the media persons one of the relatives of the victims alleged that it was the clear cut negligence of security forces.
