| Department of Urology SSH Jammu performs 3D laparoscopic procedures | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 27: In a great achievement Department of Urology SSH Jammu performed 3D laparoscopic procedures for the first time in the region of Jammu. The procedure was conducted under the leadership of the Principal Government Medical College Jammu, Dr Shashi Sharma.
After the availability of the high end laparoscopic equipment advanced procedures in urology (Kidney cancer, Kidney removal and urinary bladder cancer) were performed by Dr Elias Sharma, HOD Urology SSH Jammu along with his team Dr Rahul Gupta, Dr Ajay Anand, Dr Muzain and Dr Anchal Kotwal and Dr Amit Manhas (Department of Anaesthesia, SSH Jammu). All the patients were discharged in stable condition.Though laparoscopic surgery is being performed routinely in the department of Urology SSH Jammu, but updating the department and availability of the new 3D laparoscopy technology enhances the precision of the complex surgical procedures. Now more complex minimally invasive surgery for Urology diseases (Genitourinary cancer and Urology reconstruction procedures) will be available in Jammu as 3D laparoscopic equipment will facilitate complex surgeries with ease and better results. Moreover, it is pertinent to highlight that these surgeries will now be available at SSH for free for the patients of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Such key hole surgery allows the minimal stay of the patient in the hospital as the patients have very small scar and they recover faster compared to open surgery. This will further take the services provided by Urology Department at SSH to new heights in the Jammu region.
