65 police wards to get scholarships

Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda today sanctioned over Rs. 1.78 lakh for 65 wards of Police martyrs as scholarship out of Central Police Education Fund. The amount has been sanctioned for the year 2007 for school going children of deceased police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting militancy in the state and also those who died in accidents while in service. The decisions to this effect were taken in different meetings held recently at PHQ under the chairmanship of Director General of Police.
The DGP said that Rs. 1.45 lakhs have been sanctioned in favour of 38 students of police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting militancy in the state. Similarly, Rs. 0.32 lakhs were also released for 27 wards of deceased police personnel who died natural death while in service. He said these students are presently under studies in various educational institutions in different classes.
Khoda said the welfare of jawans was on the top of agenda of police department and every endeavor would be made to redress their problems. He lauded the valor exhibited by the officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police for maintaining the integrity and sovereignty of the state and restoration of peace. He said Police Organization will make all possible efforts for ensuring quality education to the wards of police personnel objectives can be better achieved by strict discipline, devotion and people friendly behavior, he said and added we are for the public and they have expectations from us.
He said our objective is to generate more resources for implementing various welfare schemes for police personnel and their families, besides providing free medical cover, interest free loans, premium for group insurance schemes and special rewards to the brilliant wards of the police personnel and supporting orphans and widows of the police personnel who have made supreme sacrifices for the country.
