| Satwant Dogra calls on DDC Samba | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 9
A deputation of prominent persons from villages of Gangeri, Tund Purani Kalim Sarayeen, Thora and Danuyee led by Satwant Kaur Dogra, met District Development Commissioner and demanded compensation for the farmers and vegetables got damaged due to rains followed by hailstorm. Prominent amongst present were Anchal Singh, Vasu Dev Sharma, Vinay Sharma, Mani Ram Sharma, Major Singh, Ram Nath Sharma, Balwan Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Karnail Singh. She apprised DDC that since Independence, Village Tanth has not been connected with water supply system and the villagers are being compelled to drink contaminated water from ponds in natural rain water reservoirs. Balwant Singh and Mohinder Singh fo village Tanth demanded that water should be supplied immediately to the village by laying water pipes from a dug well which is hardly 800 meters away from the village. The delegation appealed DDC for early survey to assess the loss and requested that farmers may be compensated immediately through interim relief. She also apprised the DDC about the lack of availability of basic amenities in Samba and in particular in the Kandi area and said that Samba has been neglected by the successive governments and particularly the MLA’s whoever represented the constituency. She demanded that basic amenities like mettled roads, drinking water, and uninterrupted power supply should be provided by the administration without any discrimination with any part of Samba. DDC listened to the demands of delegation patiently and said that a committee of Senior District Officers has already been constituted to assess the damaged incurred to the crop, vegetables and other public utilities. |
