Caring Doc restores light to labourer’s son

Imagine a catch-22 situation or rather a pathetic human dilemma where a person is deprived of earning his daily livelihood to feed his dependents constantly over a long period and also think of its implication over his dependents.
If you fail to imagine such a situation then just read about the real-life happening of Dhani Ram, a poor laborer residing in Patta- Paloura locality of Jammu. Dhani Ram is not only a poor laborer but an unfortunate father as well, as his three year old son Rajinder was close to losing his eye-sight at such a tender age due to Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM).
This poor laborer could not earn even a single penny during two-month long curfew and shutdowns. The turmoil deprived this man of earning daily livelihood by working as laborer hence, also deprived his family of bread for these days. The small saving which he had with him proved out to be meager and could not last for two month period.
Dhani Ram was getting daily wage at the rate of Rs. 120 and with this amount he was anyhow managing the affair of his five-member family, in which all his children were minors. Out of his three children, Rajinder was the weakest in health and bore the maximum brunt of the situation, as his health, worsened due to malnutrition. On Saturday 6th, September, 2008, Dhani Ram came to SMGS Hospital for treatment of his son and was confused and worried a lot about the deterioration health of his son Luckily, a strong in the farm of God, noticed him in the Hospital premises and took personal interest in facilitating treatment to the son of this poor laborer and saved him from losing eye-sight at the tender age of three years.
Dr. Sanjeev Digra, child specialist, who treated the child, was of the view that Rajinder suffered from Protein Energy Malnutrition and development serve weakness and on the brink of losing eye-sight due to the deficiency of Vitamin- A.
Dr. Digra took personal pains and extended a helping hand to the poor laborer by providing free medicines for child. As per Dr. Digra, the small kids are more prone to such deficiencies especially those belonging to poor families as there body requires sufficient amount of protein, Vitamins and other Vital nutrients for the proper development and growth.
Dr. Ram and his son were fortunate enough to find that godly person and Dr. Digra as rescuers but there may be hundreds of other such families and children who are suffering under the same set of conditions and might be losing lives also without any support and help.
