| Hotel contractors, operators float body to safeguard their interests | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 10
With an objective to collectively fight for the rights and safeguarding the business interests of the contractors and operators of hotels and restaurants in the state, a new trade organization J&K Hotels, Restaurants Contractors and Operators Association was floated here today. Announcing this at a press conference, Mahesh Padha, President said that a large number of hotels and restaurants in the state are being run and operated by the contractors, who are professionals in the hotel management and business. He further said that during last over two and a half months of turmoil, both in Jammu division and Kashmir valley, the contractors and operators of hotels and restaurants in Jammu and Kashmir divisions have suffered a loss of over 50 crores of rupees. While peace has returned to Jammu division, the business of the hotels and restaurants has not yet come on the rails, he added. He demanded that due compensation should be paid to all those who are running hotels and restaurants on contracts in Jammu and Kashmir. He also urged the state government to exempt the electric power tariff for these two and a half months. Earlier, Padha informed that to collectively project the plight of hotels, restaurants and operators, we have decided to constitute a new organization. Abdul Rashid, vice president, Krishan Sharma, vice president, Mohd. Saleem Sheikh, general secretary, Abdul Majid Dar, secretary, Rajesh Gupta, cashier, Gurmeet Singh and Ramesh Sharma, executive members were also present at the press conference. |
