| Reserve 2 posts of JE Mechanical under SC category, HC orders | | | Early Times Reporter

Justice YP Nargotra of J&K High Court, Jammu Wing, today in a petition filed by petitioners under Schedule Tribe category, has issued notice to Commissioner/ Secretary Public Works Department, Chairman & Secretary J&K Service Selection Board and ordered that two posts of Junior Engineer (mechanical) under the Scheduled Tribe category, if available, shall be kept reserved.
In the petition it has been submitted that petitioners are Diploma and Degree holders in Mechanical Engineering and belong to Schedule Tribe category and had participated in the selection process for the post of JE Mechanical in reference to advertisement notice dated July 3, 2007. The respondents issued select list in which the names of the petitioners figured in the waiting list at Serial NO 1 & 2 respectively. According to the Supreme Court ruling and the rulings of various High Courts, the waiting list remains in operation for a period of one year and the vacancies which become available within a period of one year are to be filled up from amongst the waiting list. It is further submitted that the respondents, just after a period of one and half month, have issued a fresh notification inviting applications for the post of JE Mechanical, thus making all out efforts not to operate the waiting list as such the petitioners seek direction to the respondents for their appointment under the category of Schedule Tribes.
