| Arshdeep of SRML bags Chess title in inter-school competitions | | | Early Times Report

Beating his rival, Kartik K Das of JK Public School in the final, Arshdeep Singh of Government SRML Higher Secondary School clinched the chess title in the ongoing inter-school boys under-19 (boys) indoor competitions of Jammu district organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at M A Stadium, here today.
It was not an easy task for Arshdeep after Kartik gave him a tough fight in the two-hour long final. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Arshdeep outplayed Rishab Wango of KC Public School while Kartik downed Varun Gupta of Model Academy.
The Caroom doubles title, in the same age group, went to the pair of Abhishek Sharma and Alok Kumar of BSF School Paloura after they defeated Dheeraj Sharma and Chetan Sharma of SRML Higher Secondary School in the final today.
In the semi-finals, Abhishek and Alok trounced the pair of Kartik K Das and Raghav Chalotra of JK Public School. In another semi-final, Dheeraj Sharma and Chetan of SRML defeated Saarish Mahajan and Akshay Mahajan of Model Academy.
Meanwhile, according to senior Physical Education Teacher (PET), Rattan Sharma, the two-day under-19 girls’ inter-school (indoor) competitions shall start from tomorrow.
TABLE TENNIS: The Jammu district inter-school table tennis Table Tennis trophy was won by KC Public School beating SRML Higher Secondary School in straight games 3-0. Singles: Karan Gupta beat Anshul in easy straight sets 11-1, 11-0 and Abhishek Arora beat Chetanya 11-9, 11-3. Doubles: Abhishek Arora and Parth Saproo beat Anshul and Chetanya 11-6, 11-2. Earlier, in the semi-finals, SRML Higher Secondary School defeated BSF School Paloura 3-2.
