| Militant killed in south Kashmir | | | Srinagar, Sep 10 :
Security forces killed a militant during an ongoing gun-battle in Kulgam area of south Kashmir today, an Army spokesman said.
He said the Army and the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint search operation of a 'dhok' at Bangawar in Kulgam area of Anantnag district early this morning following a tip- off.
On noticing the troops, militants opened fire on them with automatic weapons which was effectively retaliated.
The spokesman said in the ensuing gunfight, one militant was killed. An AK-47 was also seized from his possession, he added.
The operation was on when reports last came in. |
