Jammu | Sep 11

Pakistani troops and other agencies, according to reports reaching here, are preparing the plan for pushing into Jammu and Kashmir bigger groups of militants from across Kupwara,Tangdhar,Poonch and Rajouri sector.
Army sources today said that several groups of militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons, have been brought close to the LOC across Kupwara and keran sector in north Kashmir and across Poonch and Rajouri for assiting them in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir.Sources said that these groups of militants were brought close to the border after reports circulated that the Assembly elections in the state were being held before the end of the current year.
In reply to a question the sources said that there was no need for sending additional columns of troops to the border, adding that "we have sufficient forces to guard the border against ingress of militants."
Replying another question the sources said that despite tall barbed wire fence and strict vigil by the Indian troops militants were being assisted by professional guides and trans border smugglers in sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir. They said the troops have instructions to open fire whenever and where ever the militants attempt at crossing the border.
According to these sources, during the recent flag meetings the Indian side has talked tough with the Rangers and other Pakistani Army officials on the issue of infiltration. They said despite their assurance to set things right "we cannot afford any complacency because infiltrators have been assigned the task of disrupting the poll process."
Sources said that the level of ingress may go up in the next two months because of the election dates drawing near and owing the fact that the agencies across the border wish to push into Jammu and Kashmir s many rebel groups as possible before the border routes were covered by deep snow.
