Heritage, cultural richness of Dogras eulogized

JAMMU, Jan 13: Jammu Diary and Himalayan Heritage Foundation today organized the Lohri festival and National youth day (Swami Vivekanand Jayanti) at the Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex to sensitize masses about the heritage and cultural richness of Dogras The programme commenced with offering floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda.
While speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Koul chairman Himalayan Heritage Foundation said, Swami Vivekananda represents continuity of Sanskrit civilization of Bharat and his message of developing the nation as the aesthetically and spiritually conscious ecosystem for inclusive nation that is well equipped to develop the youth as the dynamics of national energy to safeguard our socio-cultural and spiritual heritage in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairman Jammu Diary Sugam Bral said Jammu Diary is fully conscious of the importance of youth in safeguarding the culture of Dogras and develop the sustainable mechanism to encourage the society to observe the rituals, festivals of socio religious importance to uphold the pan Indian consciousness.
Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor Jammu, the chief guest on the occasion said, celebration of Lohri festival and Swami Vivekananda Jayanti has now become a permanent feature signifying the resurgence of the society and involvement of youth in its organization is a great social achievement for our society.
Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu who was the guest of honour on the occasion said, "Swami Vivekananda is the eternal icon of national consciousness to integrate the nation and motivates the people of the society to uphold the nation." On the occasion the poster of the first Dogri song titled in Takri script of Dogri language was released by guests.
Programme was concluded by setting the traditional Lohri on fire amidst dance and folk songs.
