In order to strengthen the IT marketplace in the Jammu region and to provide state of the art computer products with matched services, a large number of reputed computer dealers from the city got together to form an association at a simple function held at hotel Asia here today. At present more than 60 prominent Computer dealers of the Jammu city are part of the association and efforts are being made to rope in all the registered computer dealers in the Jammu region. A working committee of 6 members was selected unanimously for the smooth functioning of the association till such time sufficient members are enrolled and formal elections are held. Sanjay Langer of M/s Quantum Technologies was chosen as the president, Vineet Gupta of M/s Space Era Computers and Deepak Singh of M/s Shivam Technologies as Vice –Presidents, Adit Gupta from M/s Compumates Pvt. Ltd as General Secretary and Naveen Gupta from M/s Computer Care and Dikshit Gupta from M/s Source Peripherals as Coordinator and Treasurer respectively. Apart from the working group six executive members have also been selected. They include Arvind Koul from Microcomp Systems, Rakesh Badyal from BBC Computers, Virok Talwar from Morex Computers, Rajiv Majotra from Viraj Business Corp, HS Bedi from Best Buy Computers and Sanjay Gupta from Infotek systems. At the meeting of the association the members discussed mainly the loss incurred by the computer dealers because of the two month long agitation in Jammu and decided to prepare a white paper regarding the same for claiming compensation from the state government. It was also decided to be associated with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries and give the association a legal entity by way of registering the same. Apart from this various issues that were hampering the sales and services provided by the dealers were also discussed. The issues mainly related to undue price cutting among dealers, quality of services being provided to the end users, problem with the distribution of IT products by the principal vendors and more important non availability of proper servicing facilities for branded products at Jammu etc were discussed. Since it was the first meeting, the working committee made a note of all the issues and assured the members that all efforts will be put in to resolve these problems as soon as possible. Sanjay Langer apprised the members that the main objective of the association is to create solidarity amongst all the computer dealers in the Jammu region so that solution of all the problems can be resolved amicably. He also said that the association would act as a strong platform where all the computer dealers can discuss the technical problems with regard to computer hardware and software, so that effective and efficient services can be provided to the end user. He also assured that a proper representation would be made before the Government authorities for claiming compensation for their losses. At the end of the meeting all the computer dealers hailed the efforts for establishing the association and hoped that the various issues that have been discussed will be resolved for the improvement and growth of the IT Market in Jammu. |
