| Search panel named for new BOSE Chairman, Secretary | | | Hammad Saalif Jammu | Sep 11 ET Exclusive
After more than a year of adhocism and uncertainty the government has launched a search for finding out an appropriate candidate to head the State Board of School Education. The Governor’s administration has also constituted yet another search committee for appointment of the Secretary of the Board. The State Board of School Education –a powerful and autonomous body regulating schools in Jammu and Kashmir –is presently headed by Prof Nisar Ahmed Ganai as its Chairman. It may be mentioned here that Ganai’s term had expired last year and he was granted one year extension which too ended earlier this month. Presently Ganai is on a three-month extension and, as already reported in our today’s issue, he is also running for the post of next Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu as a potential contender. Reliable sources told EARLY TIMES that the Government has appointed a five member search committee for finding out a panel of suitable candidates to be selected for the post of the Chairman of State Board of School Education. The members of the high level search committee are Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu; Prof Reyaz Punjabi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir; SL Bhat, Financial Commissioner to Government, Finance Department; Khizar Mohammad Wani, Secretary Higher and Technical Education and GA Peer, Secretary School Education. “The search committee has been asked to furnish the names of suitable candidates for appointment within a period of one month”, said the sources. Sources said, another search committee has been constituted for the selection of Secretary of the State Board of School Education. The members of this committee are Prof Nisar Ahmed Gani, outgoing Chairman of the BOSE, Prof JR Rathore, former Chairman of the BOSE and GA Peer, Secretary School Education department. |
