| CRPF to have Special DG for J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 11
With the Union Cabinet not for 48 new posts in Central Police Organisations, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will have a Special Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, besides one each for Bihar and Assam. The Central Government today cleared the proposal for creation of 48 new posts in various central police organisations to accommodate scores of IPS officials who have been promoted but had not been able to get a posting. The proposal of the Union Home Ministry was cleared at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, an official spokesman said. World's largest para-military force, CRPF, will get three new Special Director General of Police, and would be posted in in Jammu and Kashmir (militancy), Bihar (Left-wing extremism) and Assam (insurgency). The new Special DGs will be handling the situations in their operational areas and take necessary measures as and when required rather than waiting for orders from the headquarters. Other organisations like the BSF would be getting two new Special DGs who will be posted in Chandigarh (Western front) and Kolkata (eastern front). ITBP and CISF will also be getting one Special DG while the premier investigating agency, the CBI, has been sanctioned with an additional Special Director's post raising the number to two. The Special DGs will have similar rank of Director General but a slightly lower pay scale. The creation of the posts at the top level will fasten the decision making process, including financial and operational, and improve efficiency as they will be posted near area of operations. |
