Presentation Convent shuttlers today won the badminton title in the inter-school girls’ under-19 competitions of Jammu district organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at M A Stadium, here today. In the final, Presentation Convent defeated JK Public School. Since, there were only three teams turned up for the competition, the Presentation Convent girls trounced MIER 2-0 in the preliminary round to make way for the title clash. The results: Singles: Dhanvir Kour bt Naveela Naz 21-15, 21-10. Doubles: Sulakani and Inakshi bt the pair of Anchal and Sonam 21-8, 21-10. Interestingly, only one team reported in the popular game of table tennis among youngsters. The organizing committee had no difficulty in declaring Presentation Convent as district champion. However, to spend time, the team members played friendly matches. The results: Saba bt Mehak Sheikh 11-4, 11-4; Nitani Bakshi bt Bhuvneshwari Bali 11-3, 11-7; Nitani bt Saba 12-10, 14-12. In girls’ under-19 Swimming too, there was almost no competition in the wake of just two schools reporting for the event. The winners, all from KC Public School (KCPS), were decided on the basis of time trials by the organizing committee. The results: 50 mts Breast Stroke: Hemani Goswami, Ist; Aakriti Gulati, 2nd; Robina Kohli, third. 50 mts Free Style: Oshin Belove, Ist; Hemani Goswami, 2nd; Aakriti Gulati, third. 100 mts Free Style: Hemani Goswami, Ist; Oshin Belove, 2nd and Aakriti Gulati, third. Meanwhile, in boys under-10 Judo event, the organizers hardly find any opponent, except for 60 kg, in seven different weight categories for which the competition was supposed to take place today. Similarly, to decide the Jammu district team for forthcoming inter-district competitions, the teacher incharge named the winners following the laid down norms. The results: 45 kg: Abhinash of HSS Bahu Fort. 50 Kg: Vivek Sharma, SRML Higher Secondary School. 55 kg: Aman Gupta, DBN School. 60 kg: Deepak Dogra, SRML HSS. 65 kg: Ishan Kesar, HSS Marh. 71 kg: Sunil Singh Chib, Army School Kaluchak.
