| Displaced Kashmiri Pandit Youth holds rally | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 12
A public rally was organized by Association of Displaced Kashmiri Pandit Youth at Purkhoo camp, phase IV in which a large number of Kashmiri Pandits from all walks of life and from all the four phases of Purkhoo and Mishriwalla camps participated. Pt. Moti Koul chairman of R N Koul Memorial Trust and Chairman of Progressive Chamber of Commerce announced to donate a computer centre for the youths of Purkhoo on the demand of the General public and also committed to pay some amount for the ongoing construction of the religious place located in the camp premises. The Speakers,.Mohan Lal, Sh.Bansi Lal Razdan and Sh.Chuni Lal thanked Koul for his constant and generous contribution towards the community in general and the camp dwellers in particular. The speakers rejected the rehabilitation plan announced by the Prime Minister of India, Sh.Manmohan Singh at Akhnoor. They stressed Pt. Moti Koul to come forward and lead them as the community is at cross roads. Till the permanent rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits back in the valley, the camp dwellers demanded that short term plans like employment, education and medical facilities be sincerely provided for the survival of the community. The speakers also conveyed that the demands of the Kashmiri Pandits should be taken up with the central Govt. They assured that they are behind the struggle if taken positively for the survival of the community. Addressing the gathering Pt. Moti Koul said that we should learn lessons from the Jammu agitation that culminated with a grand success because they were focused under one plate form towards their single set goal. Pt. Koul insistently said that we should strive presently on the priority basis for those focused agendas which are within the reach of our struggle and are achievable. He appealed to think on “Development Council” for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits who have been neglected economically also .The members of the Migrant Development council should be a statutory body and should be answerable to the Kashmiri Pandit Community. Since Crores of rupees every year are allotted to the State Govt. for the development of the displaced community but are being diverted to the other areas by the State Govt. |
