| 1 Cr gallons of water short in Jammu: PHE | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 12
As the “comprehensive” schemes and plans implemented from time to time by the government have failed to solve the problem of the scarcity of drinking water, as Jammu is reeling under 1 crores gallon of water shortage. Jammu and its adjoining areas have been facing an acute shortage of drinking water, especially during summers, as the town is facing a shortage of about 1 cr gallons of water. Speaking in a ‘Hello DD’ programme, Superintendent Engineer (SE), PHE department S P Kanotra informed that about 1 crores of gallons of water shortage in Jammu city. Giving a detail, he informed that about 3.50 crores gallons of water is needed in Jammu but PHE have only 2.5 crores gallons of water. He said that to cater this shortage of water, Economical Reconstruction Agency (ERA) to dig 65 tubewells wells and remaining from twin filtration plants. Asserting that PHE department is committed to solve the water shortage problem in Jammu, SE PHE said that “the Government has devised short, medium and long term plans to overcome water shortage in Jammu city”. In question-answers with the viewers regarding water scarcity, he made an appeal to the people of Jammu not to waste water, desist of using electric motors. Deliberating an important issue, Kanotra said that “in present circumstances, no one take water tap connection before the construction of any object like building, residential house and even government buildings, when constructions are over, everyone want water connection”. |
