| Supply of non-skid chains: CBI conduct raids at Udhampur | | | Early Times Report Udhampur | Sept 13
A team of the CBI today conducted raids in the ordinance and the vehicle depots at Army's Northern Command Udhampur. However army authorities denied the reports. Well informed Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that a team of CBI today conducts raids in 1 SOD of Northern command to investigate the non-skid chains seized earlier, the team also questioned some officers about the inferior quality of non-skid chains and other instruments supplied by a private company of Mumbai. Earlier CBI has conducted searches six months back following reports that inferior quality of non-skid chains and other instruments were supplied to the Army by a private company of Mumbai, sources added. Though the officers of the CBI were tight-lipped over the searches, sources said the team took few samples from a sealed quantity of chains which were seized six months back. Sources informed that a private company in Mumbai had supplied inferior quality non-skid chains and other materials used in snowbound areas, especially to clear the road and cut the ice during snowfall by the Amy. It was yet to be ascertained as whether the non-skid chain and other instruments were of inferior quality or not, sources told NAK adding the team has taken samples of the non-skid chains to test its quality. However Brig Murti, (BGS) of information ware fare denied the reports of CBI raids and said that a team of CBI today visited the northern command and took samples of the seized non-skid chains and other material for testing. He said no raid was conducted and the visit of the CBI team investigating an old case of supply of non-skid chain was a part of routine visit and not raid. "The team had come to collect the samples of the sealed items for testing" Brig Murti told NAK insisting no raid was conducted. "The team will examine the sealed chains and other instruments", added the sources. |
