| Over 15,000 appear in delayed CET | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 13
After bearing the long wait for about two months finally thousands of students aspiring to become doctors, engineers or take other professional courses appeared in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination today in both regions of the state. It needs to be mentioned that a decisive examination in the career of any student after passing the higher secondary examination, the Common Entrance Test had thrice slipped its scheduled due to the ongoing agitation launched by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti. Every July, thousands of aspiring doctors, engineers, veterinarians, agricultural scientists and others compete for seats in various professional colleges - either government run or privately owned – by taking the CET exam that is held simultaneously in the Kashmir valley and the Jammu region. Chairman, Board of Professional Entrance Examination, Santokh Ram while talking to our correspondent told that around 15000 aspirants have appeared in the CET exams held in 21 centers in J&K region. According to him the test had been conducted smoothly and partially. He also informed that there have not been any reports of registration of cases with any of the aspirants in both the regions. Adding to it he stated that in the Northern Part of India especially in J&K the OMR sheet has been introduced for the first time and which has shown good results. According to this system, the name, roll no and photograph of the aspirant ahs been already printed on the answer sheet and this will remove all the impersonations. He also said that board will try its best to ensure the result of CET on or before Sept 25 to meet the deadline for MBBS and BDS admissions as the admission for said courses is being prohibited further beyond Sept 30 According to Prof. Hemla from Gandhi Nagar Women College, all the aspirants were very relaxed and comfortable during the examination. There was not any sign of frustration on their faces. She also told that in chemistry paper aspirants had solved it before the halftime and in physics due to numerical they take their time. She also added that the merit of the CET will be very high and there will be a tough competition between the candidates. Anu Gupta, a student, of a coaching centre, "All questions were from within the syllabus and we were thoroughly prepared to take on this challenge," 'I have been sweating it out for 16 hours a day to make it to the MBBS course, and finally hoped that I will get my name in the merit list. "The paper was very easy this year as compared to last year. The examiner has set a balanced question paper,” and it was good for average as well as above average student.
