9/10/2006 11:37:58 PM
UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 10 :
Reiterating the firm resolve of the coalition government led by dynamic leader Ghulam Nabi Azad in providing justice to all irrespective of any regional bias by making the administration pro-active and more responsive to people with a particular focus on hilly and backward areas, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Forests and Higher Education, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan has called upon the people to extend their cooperation to government in ensuring faster development of their areas.
The Minister was addressing largely attended public meetings at Mahore and Sungri of district Udhampur during his one-day tour of the area, yesterday.
The Additional DDC Udhampur, Mr. Khursheed Ahmed Bhat, Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur, Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry, DFO Mahore, Deputy CEO, Executive Engineer, PHE, Mahore and local Tehsildar were present in the meeting.
The Minister while enumerating the achievements of coalition government said that ban on employment in government jobs was lifted, friendly relations developed between two neighbouring countries, packages worth crores of rupees announced, over 30,000 RETs appointed purely on merit. It was only because of visionary spirit of Ghulam Nabi Azad that eight new districts have been announced, salaries of daily wagers hiked and the pay dues of SPOs were doubled and a sea change in security scenario is visible every where, he added.
Mr. Khan asked the people not to be misled by the false propaganda of vested interests who would try their level best to create division by spreading false rumours. He urged the people to be united and foil the evil designs of mischievous elements as the achievements registered by the coalition government depict the clear picture of over all development and prosperity of the state.
Referring to loss of life and property due to incessant rains and floods, the Minister said that the Chief Minister was equally concerned about the losses. The Chief Minister has geared up administrative machinery to work out the loss of life and property within a shortest possible time. While directing the officers to expedite the survey of losses, he has called upon the people to come forward and provide information of loss occurred in their areas of Nambardars, Village Level Workers or Naib Tehsildars for speedy completion of survey so that compensation could be granted to sufferers at the earliest.
The people at Mahore demanded Degree College at Mahore, early completion of Sub-District Hospital, sanctioning of more watersheds, tehsil status for Chasana and Gool, compensation of loss of life and property due to heavy rains, improvement in drinking water and power supply. The people at Sungri demanded Ambulance and posting of required staff in HSS Chana and Balmatkote.
