| Governor visits Kulgam injured in SKIMS | | | Srinagar, July 9 - Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S. K. Sinha this morning visited Sheri-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences(SKIMS) here and inquired about the condition of injured in grenade blast at Kulgam yesterday. SKIMS Director Dr. Jalal-ud-Din and the doctors attending on the injured briefed the Governor about the status of those having suffered splinters in the grenade blast and said that they were fast improving. In all 15 inured are receiving specialized treatment in disaster management facility centre of the institute. Gen. Sinha visited the former Minister Ms. Sakina Ittoo also in the institute who told him that it was the 10th attack by terrorists on her during the past few years. The Governor whished her and other injured patients early recovery. Dr. Mehboob Baig, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Naik and Mr. Abdul Rehman Tukroo, all legislators, were present in the institute. Mr. Naik urged the Governor for providing cash assistance to the injured for undergoing treatment after being discharged from the hospital. Condemning the attack, the Governor said that such cowardly and inhuman acts would not deter the people from perusing their chosen path of peace and tranquility. He said that elements inimical to peace have been indulging in anti-people activities like throwing grenade in busy market places and other areas, jeopardizing the safety of the people who have demonstrated their determined preference for peace unequivocally. Gen Sinha expressed grief and shock over the killing of 5 persons in the grenade attack and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
