| BJP fishing in troubled waters: Soz | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 15
Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Union Minister for Water Resources and President, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, has condemned as "preposterous" and "disruptive" the statement of the BJP President, Rajnath Singh in Bangalore the other day, calling for the establishment of separate enclaves for the Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and the "nationalization of the Amarnath route". In a statement, Prof. Soz said that such remarks from a responsible functionary of a national party, could only be aimed at weakening the internal unity of not only Jammu and Kashmir but of the country as a whole and these remarks were most unfortunate. He said that the BJP is trying to thrive on issues which could generate communal feelings to suit its electoral politics, but now, the overwhelming majority of the people of the country are aware of these parochial tactics and, he (Soz) was sure that the BJP's gimmicks won't work at all. Prof. Soz said Kashmiri Pandits were an integral part of Kashmir society and every Kashmiri Muslim was keen for their return. He said the Prime Minister, earlier this year, had announced a special package for their return which had been widely acclaimed by the community. Prof. Soz said that Rajnath seemed to be a quite bit "confused" while advocating "nationalization of the Amarnath route", forgetting that the issues relating to Shri Amarnath Shrine had been settled amicably. |
