| Jammu Muslims float co-ordination committee | | | Early Times Reporter

To ensure equal opportunities of progress and development to the Muslims of Jammu, Muslim organizations of the region today jointly floated an umbrella organization – ‘Jammu Muslim Co-ordination Committee’.
Disclosing this at a press conference here today Prof. Zahur-ud-din the convener of newly framed body, said that the members of a number of Muslim organizations, working in the Jammu Province, resolved to form an umbrella organization with the title ‘Jammu Muslim Coordination Committee’.
The member organizations include Jammu Muslim Front, Teli Welfare Association Jammu, Shia Federation Jammu, Akhil Bharati Gujjar Sabha Jammu, Gujjar United Front Jammu, Muslim Action Committee Jammu, Gujjar Bakerwal Conference Jammu, and Muslim Islahi Committee Kathua.
The members also unanimously adopted the constitution of the newly floated committee drafted by a panel of experts constituted for the purpose.
Zahur-ud-Din said that the Committee will work to ensure peaceful coexistence of all communities in the state and beyond, create awareness among the Muslims of Jammu about their inalienable rights and duties as enshrined in the Constitution of the State and the country Ensure that they enjoy their constitutional rights and fulfill their duties without any fear and adopt measures to strengthen bonds of fraternity within the Muslim communities of Jammu and also with other non-Muslim communities of the region and help maintain age old values of communal harmony.
He said that besides this, the committee will also ensure that the state government provided equal opportunities of progress and development to the Muslims of Jammu also as are enjoyed by other sister communities in both the regions.
"We also look forward to set up modern technical schools and colleges for adequate professional as well as academic development of the Muslims of Jammu and take necessary steps towards cultural, literary and artistic enrichment of the community and ensure preservation and protection of their literary and artistic heritage", he added.. |
