| Steps should be taken to revive historical glory of Amar Singh Club: CM | | Retired bureaucrats, businessmen, prominent citizens attended general body meeting | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10 : “Amar Singh Club with its rich and historical background, is required to concentrate on indoor and outdoor sports activities so that a healthy atmosphere is again revived in the field”, said the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad while addressing general body meeting of the members of Amar Singh Club here on Saturday. All the members of the Club, which includes retired bureaucrats, prominent citizens and businessmen, attended the meeting. Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has underscored the need for boosting sports activities including outdoor and indoor games at district levels in the state keeping in view the tourist destinations in various parts particularly in the Kashmir valley. This, he said, would help to boost the tourism in the Jammu and Kashmir State. The Chief Minister while appreciating the role of Amar Singh Club members for making the club functional in the valley, hoped that the games like tennis, squash, lawn tennis, table tennis would be again launched to take the club again to its old glory. He assured the club members that all possible assistance would be extended to make the activities of the club vibrant in the sports sector. Mr. Azad urged for mutual coordination and cooperation between the members to mitigate the problems confronting presently by the club. He said that government would also contribute its mite to maintain the club and its surroundings. The Secretary of the Club Mr. Shamus Farooq in his welcome address presented detailed report of the activities being undertaken by the club for its revival. |
