| Search launched for new SKUAST VC | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 16
A month after Prof Nagendra Sharma’s end of tenure and his quiet departure, the government has set up a Search Committee to find out suitable candidate for the post of Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences, Jammu. A five member panel headed by Mangla Rai, Director of Indian council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) has been set by the state Governor to select new vice-chancellor of SKUAST, sources said. The Search Committee has been asked to finalise a panel in next one month. The post of SKUAST Vice Chancellor had fallen vacant last month after Nagindra Sharma's term ended. A favourite of former Governor SK Sinha, Prof Nagendra is reported to have made desparately tried for extension in term but the request could not materialize as the Governor Vohra’s administration wanted to have a new face. The charge of vice-chancellor has been given to S L Bhat, Financial Commissioner of Planning department for now. |
