| Central team visits more flood-affected areas | | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10 : During its second day tour to Kashmir Valley, the central team today visited Pulwama and Anantnag districts to take stock of damages caused due to recent floods. The team was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGP Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of twin districts and other divisional level officers. The team interacted with the people at Lethpora and registered their demands. The Lethpora area of Pulwama has suffered 100 per cent crop damage. The team also inspected the relief camp at Awantipora. At Anantnag the team inspected Larkipora bridge, which has suffered extensive damage. As many as, 239 villages with a population of 2.35 lakh souls have been affected. 10763 hectares of crop and fruit area has suffered damage. Seventy irrigation khuls have also suffered lot of damage besides two causalities were also reported from the Dishat area. 137 roads washed away by flash floods. The team also visited Hillar Water Supply Scheme providing drinking water to Hoker Badasgam, Akingam and Dhamhal area. Later, the team held an officers meeting at Anantnag and discussed various issues regarding dewatering of flood water from marooned areas, installation of alternative Generator sets and street lights in the areas where electricity has been snapped in view of threat to life and property and also to provide essentials like food grains, kerosene oil, LPG to the affected habitations. |
