After along wait of two months, the cutoff merit list for admission to various Post Graduate programmes of the Jammu University were finally declared here today. Earlier the same was to be completed in the month of July. The Department of Mathematics walked away with the honor of scaling maximum merit whereas chemistry and physics followed the suit, as University of Jammu (JU) declared the first cut off list for admission to various Post Graduate courses here today. The cut off figures in maximum departments were purely in accordance with the tradition, as Faculty of Sciences recorded the relatively higher cut off percentages in comparison to all other Faculties. In Mathematics, the merit went to the maximum of 84.95 percent and cutted off at 78.38 percent whereas disciplines of chemistry and physics also recorded the merit in excess of 83percent. In chemistry, it went up to 84 percent and closed at 79.09 percent whereas in physics, it scaled the mark of 83.90 percent and finished down at 77.14 percent. Electronics, Botany and Zoology also recorded a relatively high merit, where figures indicated neck-to-neck battle among the candidates for securing admissions. In Electronics, the merit started from 82.09 percent and finished at 77.09 percent while Botany also followed it keenly with the maximum of 82.80 percent and minimum of 78.14 percent. Meanwhile, Zoology begins with 83.52 percent and closed at 77.95 percent. A bitter fight of numeric was also recorded in the disciplines of Geology, Geography and Statistics. In Geology merit went up to 74 percent and dipped to as low as 62.95 while in Geography, it scaled the mark of 82.37 percent and fell down to 70.24. Statistics also maintained the harmony with them and followed with maximum of 76.09 percent and minimum of 67.76 percent. In Department of Library Sciences, the merit for M Lib scaled the mark of 72.63percent and folded narrowly at 69.25 percent whereas for B Lib, the merit kissed the mark of 80.91 percent and dipped at 72.21 percent to conclude the first cut off list. The disciplines of Commerce and Economics also recorded handsome cut off merit figures. In Commerce, the merit topped with 78.96 and concluded with 63.78 percent Meanwhile, In Economics, the merit goes up to 70 percent and concluded at the mark of 61.28 for Jammu campus while for udhampur campus it starts from 61.28 and finished up to 53.42 percent. Department of Education too witnessed healthy cut off figures. In M Ed, the merit of gone up to 75.55 percent and dipped down to 66.93 percent. But, in MA Education, the highest percentage stood at 70.85 percent, which went down to 63.14 to finish up. In Psychology department the highest merit was recorded up to 73.142 percent and cut off goes to 65.93 whereas in allied category the merit goes up to 72.63 percent Meanwhile for science stream applicants the merit recorded upto 82.90 percent. The Faculty of Social Sciences recorded a relatively lower cut off percentages. Sociology recorded the maximum of 72.23and minimum of 65.46 whereas in allied category the cut off percentage stood at the maximum of 72.00 percent and finished at 68.44.Meanwhile, for applicants from Science and Commerce stream, the merit surprisingly touched the mark of 82.90 and finished at 81.70 percent. Meanwhile the department will release the list for Reasi and Ramnagar candidates on 23rd of September. History recorded the highest of 69.38 percent and lowest of 61.80 percent whereas in allied category it recorded the highest of 77.51 percent and lowest of 71.51 percent. Meanwhile, in Political Science, the merit touched 68.71 percent and fell down to 61.56 Home Science Department the highest merit touched up to 73.6 and concluded at 61.9 respectively. A stiff competition was witnessed in Languages also where in Dogri the cut off percentage gone up to 63.76 percent but dashed at 58.19 percent. Sanskrit and Urdu also recorded the handsome initial mark of 68 and 66.43 percent respectively but closed at 60.21 and 58.38 percent respectively. In Buddhist Studies and Punjabi faculty maximum merit recorded was 64.90 and 67.19 and steeped down to56 and 57.33 percent respectively. The lowest initial percentage was recorded in Hindi and English Languages where in the highest merit recorded up to 64.95 and 57.23 and ended up at 59.76 and 47.19 respectively. But the cut off list in the Biotechnology department was not displayed till afternoon due to the pending approval of the Head of Department. Meanwhile, the next cut off list would also be declared soon. |
