JMC organised awareness programme on Plastic waste Management

Jammu, Feb 4: JMC in collaboration with Regional and Urban Development Agency and Lawrence Public School organized an awareness programme on sustainable waste management practices under Plastic Waste Management Programme supported by Coca Cola and UNDP at the premises of Lawrence Public School, Sidhra in presence of Dr.S.P Verma,Padma Yashpal Sharma, Chairman Swachh Bharat Mission JMC, Tinna Mahajan Secretary JMC, Councillor Ms. Shama Akhtar, Dr,Taran Singh Medical Superintendent (Retd), Sanjeev Arora CEO Regional and Urban Development Agency and Mohammad Ameen City Lead UNDP.
The programme started with the lighting of lamp by the dignitaries followed by detailed deliberations on Plastic Waste Management programme by SanjeevArora. Emphasis was laid down on reducing negative impacts of plastic pollution on human health and environment.
Tinna Mahajan Secretary also spoke on the occasion and elaborated on the different interventions of JMC for managing the solid waste including plastics. She also requested students to become the change agentsin the society by disseminating the message on importance of source segregation. She also requested the participants to installSwachhta app and participate in Swachh Sarvekshan 2021.Apart from this she accentuated that the students should be encouraged to bring segregated dry waste from their houses and deposit the same in the school.
She maintained that the waste deposited by the students will be registered and those students who will bring more waste shall be rewarded at the end of the month. Swachhta Pledge was also taken for reduce, reuse and recycling of Plastic Waste,
At the end of the programme dustbin made of Multi Layered Plastics (MLP) was inaugurated and handed over to the school Administration by Sri Yashpal Sharma and Tinna Mahajan. Shivani Joshi Principal Lawrence Public school thanked all the participants for the time and assured to render all support to the plastic Waste Management Programme of UNDP.
