| MIER, Army celebrate Hindi Diwas | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 17 Several functions marked the celebration of Hindi Diwas today. As a part of the celebrations, several units and establishments of the HQ Northern Command Udhampur took part in various competitions such as Hindi essay, noting and drafting, Hindi typing through computer and recitation. Brig HPS Dhillion, who was the chief guest, emphasized the importance and spread of the official language through correspondence in the offices of HQ Northern Command. He highlighted the place of Hindi in the Indian Constitution and especially in the armed forces where multi-lingual people work together and speak in common Hindi. Col Amarjeet Singh, Col GS (Edn) and Chairman Official Language Implementation Committee, HQ Northern Command welcomed the chief guest and thanked him for his gracious presence. He also congratulated the winners. In the concluding ceremony DS Rauthan, Asst Director (Official Language) thanked the chief guest and all present at the ceremony. On the Hindi Diwas, MIER College of Education, Jammu organized a lively program which was presented by the staff and the students of the college and chaired by Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER and Principal MIER College of Education. The participants presented poems and papers highlighting the importance of Hindi as a national language. The Chairperson in her address highlighted that Hindi is the Official language of our nation and the script of this language is easy and simple. All our efforts should be for the development of this language. This is the language of the masses and can become an effective medium of communicating facts and great ideas to the people. Further, she said in order to boost this language, we should celebrate this day every year and should also organize orientation programmes, seminars/essay writing competitions, short stories. She appreciated the efforts made by the convener-curricular activities, Shashi Kaul to make this program a success. Dr. Surinder Kaur Co (MR) and the staff of College of Education were also present on the occasion. |
