| CII for partnership in health sector | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 17 A four member Confederation of Indian industry (CCI) delegation led by Sanjay Puri, its chairman met Dr S.S Bloeria and propagated the promotion of Public Private Partnership (PPP) in J&K’s health sector. Puri said that PPP has emerged as a new avenue of reform primarily due to the resource constraints in the public sector throughout the world and in the health sector seeks to compliment rather than substitute the public health services. He further said that the health sector in J&K was progressing at a very fast pace. However, the quality of health care needed to be upgraded and vastly improved. The coming in of the private players would vastly improve the health services in the state. He said states like Orissa, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat have already made a great progress in health sectors due to the implementation of PPP. Some of the PPP projects operational in these states are contracting out Primary Health Centres, Urban Health centres for urban slum population, Institutional Delivery and making available transportation around the clock for pregnant women, Malaria Control, Outsourcing the cleaning and security services of Health institutions and Secondary care/general hospitals. Dr. Bloeria complimented the CII for putting in efforts to improve the health services in the state. He said that Public Private Partnership will indeed go a long way in improving the quality of health services in the state and government will provide the necessary support. |
