| Vakil visits flood-affected areas in Baramulla appreciates CMs concern for the affected | | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10 : Senior Vice President JKPCC and MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakeel has appreciated the steps taken by the Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad for providing succour and relief to those people who were affected adversely due to recent floods. Mr Vakil said that the Prime Minister of India Dr.Manmohan Singh on the desire of the Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad deployed a central team to the state to assess the damages caused due to floods within 24 hours, which people of J&K have greatly appreciated. He said providing Rs. 21 crore of immediate relief to flood hit areas and free ration for affected families are practical steps taken by the government. He said that it was a minute to minute monitoring by Mr Azad from the time when flood alarm was first raised that the state administration remained geared up and huge human losses which could have been caused due to floods were avoided. Mr Vakil was today reviewing the situation of damages caused to property due to recent floods in various areas of district Baramulla. He visited various localities in Sopore town including Sher Colony and many affected villages in Rafiabad. He said keeping in view the intensity of floods and unprecedented rains which has caused tremendous losses to standing crops and apple orchards, steps for providing compensation to the affected families may be geared up |
