| HSS Canal Road girls claim Volleyball title | | Inter-school (U-19) competitions of Jammu district | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 17 Beating Higher Secondary School (HSS) Rehari, the HSS Canal Road girls today won the Volleyball final 2-1 on the opening day of the two-day inter-school under-19 year girls competitions of Jammu district organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar, here today. For her exceptional performance, Rajneet Kour of HSS Canal Road was adjudged best spiker of the event. Only two teams participated in the girls volleyball competitions. Meanwhile, in other two events of Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, the teams have reached the final after playing their first round of semifinals matches played today. The finals have been scheduled for tomorrow. In Kho-Kho, HSS Nowabad and HSS Shastri Nagar have made it into the final. In the semi-finals, HSS Nowabad girls defeated HSS Canal Road by a margin of eight points while HSS Shastri Nagar trounced HSS Rehari by four points. In Kabaddi, HSS Canal Road and HSS Nowabad qualified for the final. In the semi-finals played today, HSS Canal outplayed HSS Rehari by a narrow margin of two points and HSS Nowabad turned the tables against HSS Shastri Nagar beating latter by a big margin of 18 points. Earlier, the competitions were declared open by the Principal of the host school, Rattan Prabha. She was also introduced with the participating teams. Among others present were R C Vaid, Sunita Goel, Usha Jamwal, Ram Paul and Surinder Singh. |
