Two-day Jammu District Judo Championship, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association, went underway today at Indoor Complex, M A Stadium, here.
Earlier, the championship was declared open by Association treasurer, Kuldeep Singh. General secretary of the Association, R C Thakur and Manager Indoor Complex, Ravi Singh were also present.
On the opening day of the championship, competition in both boys and girls under-12 year age group took place.
“The competition in two other age groups of under-14 and under-17 shall take place tomorrow, followed by the prize distribution at 4.30 pm,” organizing secretary of the championship, Vikas Gupta told SAN.
Today’s competitions were officiated by Suraj Bhan Singh, Arshi Nad, Ritika Slathia (all State Sports Council coaches), Raj Kumar, Vipul and Suraj.

BOYS: Under-12-year: 25 kg: Anmol Abrol of Regional Coaching Centre (RCC), Ist; Jeevan Singh (Army School Kaluchak), 2nd; Rahul Sharma and Ashish (SOS), joint third. 30 kg: Virbhadra Singh (RCC), Ist; Subam Singh (SOS), 2nd; Parvinder Singh (SOS) and Jaspreet Singh (SOS), joint third. 35 kg: Aditya Mahajan (RCC), Ist; Abiman Singh (RCC), 2nd; Munish Sharma (SOS) and Pawandeep Singh (SOS), joint third. 40 kg: Karan Mehta (JK Public School), Ist; Harish Sharma (SOS), 2nd; Kavish Gupta (RCC) and Sourav Balotra (SOS), joint third. Open Weight: Sarthak Wattal (SOS), Ist; Sajid Ali Khan (JK Public School), 2nd; Anirudh Sharma (RCC) and Ram Raj (SOS), joint third.
GIRLS: Under-12 year: 25 kg: Bhumika Mahajan (RCC), Ist; Aditi Sharma (SOS), 2nd; Arohi Khajuria (SOS) and Sonia (Shastri Memorial School), joint third. 30 kg: Suhasi Kiran (KV No. II), Ist; Arpita Puri (SOS), 2nd; Himanshi Nagri (SOS) and Vasudha Gupta (SOS), joint third. 35 kg: Radika Sharma (Shastri Memorial School), Ist and Ridima Ghai (SOS), 2nd. |
