| No respite yet, SRTC employees to intensify stir | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Sept 18 Large number of employees of State Road Transport Corporation on Thursday organized a big demonstration at Vikram Chowk area as their indefinite strike entered the 30 day today. The striking employees are sitting on dharna to press their demands for release of salaries and COLA. President of the striking employees union Ashok Mehra informed the gathering of striking employees that the corporation has convened meeting of the board members on September 22 to discuss their demands. He said that if the board members failed to address their concerns the striking employees would intensify their stir. Mehra also informed the striking employees that a representation of the employees would also call on Governor NN Vohra to apprise him of their demands. On an average the SRTC is losing 40 lakh rupees per day, besides this fleet of over 700 vehicles is grounded due to strike. Movement of goods transported through SRTC fleet is also affected. The image of the corporation has been hit hard due to frequent strikes outside the state. |
