| Rs 31 Cr erosion projects underway | | | Early Times Report Srinagar | Sept 18 As many as, four major anti erosion project, involving a cost of Rs. 31.8 crore have been launched for Jehlum in Kashmir and Devak, Tawi and Chenab rivers in Jammu region. Various flood protection works and anti erosion schemes have been kick started under these projects and Rs. 16.5 crore stands incurred on the works so far undertaken. The department of Irrigation and Flood Control Department has formulated 109 flood protection schemes involving a cost of Rs. 2385 crores and submitted these to the Central government for funding. For flood protection works on Tawi, Chenab, Ujh, Dera Baba and flood spill channel of river Jehlum, an amount of Rs. 12.80 crore have been released so far. |
