| Eye witnesses submit affidavits before Inquiry commission | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 19: Eye witnesses in the alleged disrespect to the body of deceased Kuldeep Verma, who had allegedly committed suicide for the Amarnath land on July 23, today submitted affidavits before the Government Commission of Inquiry, which is probing the allegations against Police. Total seven eye witnesses, including Kuldeep Verma's wife Shilpi, convener of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti Advocate Leela Karan Sharma and Swami Sarwanand were among those who filed affidavits before Justice O P Sharma Commission. Giving details about filing of affidavits, advocate Ramesh Arora, who is member of the Sangharsh Samiti Legal Cell, informed that the commission has accepted the request for accepting the affidavits of three more eyewitnesses, including JK Channel Cameraman Dheeraj Sethi and Amar Ujala newspaper's lens man Ankur. It may be recalled that allegation disrespect shown by Police while lifting Kuldeep Verma's body from Parade area on the intervening night of September 23-24, had triggered violent protests all over Jammu. Kuldeep Verma had ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance near Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha Parade where a chin hunger strike was being observed by members of Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti in support of the demand for restoration of land to the Shrine Board. |
