| Jammu Muslims protest against PDD | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU,Sept 19 : Muslim community members of Jammu today staged protest demonstrations against Power Development department (PDD) for its failure in maintaining regular power supply during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Protest demonstrations were held out-side Jamia Masjid here after the Friday prayers by the muslims of Jammu alleging scarcity of electricity in some areas of Muslim belts and irregular power supply in jammu.
"When government is claiming of all possible measures have been taken in view of Holy month in Jammu and its adjoining areas why the power supply is not maintained regularly" said a protester adding the silence maintained by the government and PDD authorities shows the dis-regard to the community and their sentiments.
The members of the community urge governor to intervene and direct the power department to ensure regular power supply in Jammu and other Muslim belts.
They also threatened to the department of sit in dharna against its failure in maintaining regular power supply in case it failed to provide regular supply of power to these areas during the holy month of Ramadan.
The protest demonstration was organized by the Muslim federation Jammu. Among other Talat Niaz Qazi, Abdul Kabir and Rashid Ahmad addressed the protesters. |
