| Empowering women….this College shows the way | | Girls walking in GCW Parade landing into MNCs | | MUNISH GUPTA JAMMU, Sept 19: If women empowerment is the buzzword of modern world, here is a College in town which shows the way. City girls dropping into the Parade situated Government College for Women are these years landing straight into the Mutli National Companies. “We want to empower individuals no matter where they are, with all the knowledge, guidance and supervision that they need to become worthy computer professionals”, is the mission of the BCA department of the Government Women College Parade. For last few years BCA department which was introduced into 2002 session in the college have provided the platform to the students who have got placed in various multinational companies like Wipro, Satyam, TCS, TechMahindra and nfosys.Acoording to figures from last three years consecutively 15 students have got placed in these MNC’s. And all of these are placed there before completing graduation which provides them the chance of earning while studying. Meanwhile the departments have also maintained record of securing top positions in the University results. Principal of the College, Savitri Sharma told EARLY TIMES that it is a matter of honour for the college that for last three years students have been maintaining a steady lead in results and placements. She said that the whole credit goes to the staff of the BCA department particularly to the HOD Praveen Singh under whose supervision the department has reached on such heights. She also said that students need proper guidance, motivation and cooperation to achieve success and the staff of the departments is providing the students all. She also stated that placement of students is two way process, some time the companies approached us and sometimes we took the students to various companies for placements. She also added that the students have provided with all the infrastructure and facilities they needed for their courses. She also assured that the College will always try to take all the positive measures to improve the infrastructure if needed and also approach to the University for increasing seats in the College because of increasing demand in the BCA course. According to HOD BCA, Praveen Singh, “Success comes from hardwork and sincere efforts”. In today’s world of glabalisation and all around competition on has to excel to be counted. This call for grooming students in variety of spheres with special emphasis on an inquisitive and analytical mind, a desire to apply what one learns, update the knowledge box and strong sense of integrity and commitment to common good . He stated that department is trying its best to groom its students with one eye on the present market so that maximum students can be placed in big MNC’s. He also said that our phiolosphy is that students must learn. In coming times , more MNC’s will be visiting the campus he added and assured that the department will provide all the best facilities to the students in terms of academics/ Infrastructure so that they can really excel. “Victory is not just crossing the goal line but Crossing the hurdles and reaching the goal lines” says Devyani Gupta. She said that Govt Colleges have very good infrastructures if there is the proper usage of it. The staff of our department is really very supportive to us. Our HOD Praveen Singh has given us the right motivations and guidance. He prepared us for the future competitions and finally after getting placed in such company she is feeling very proud. Neha Sharma, another student, feels that she is now on the top of the world. She said that her confident has also gone higher and Department has provided them the right platform. She also gave the whole Credit to her HOD Praveen Singh and the whole staff of BCA. She also added that he always guide us and provide us the entire infrastructure and the knowledge we needed. Neetika sharma stated that in today’s competitive world it’s very difficult to get jobs but I first of all especially express gratitude to my whole staff of the BCA department who provide us full support in whatever we needed. She also added that regular workshop is organized for enhancing student’s skills. Geetika Sharma another student stated that she is very confident of getting placed in MNC after an interview since we have been got the full training through the brilliant staff of our department. We have the GD Sessions to prepare us for competitive market. TOPPERS in BCA
In 2004-2005 Batch Deepti Verma secured 2nd position Prachi Malhotra stood 3rd. Sonia Kapoor secured 5th position. Loveleen Abrol got 7th position Isha Gupta secured 8the position In 2005-2006 Shifali Gupta stood 2nd Silky Mahajan stood 10th. In 2006-2007 Aparna Raina Stood 7th Nidhai Trisan stood 10th. In 2007-2008 Neha Bhan -2nd Vaishali-5th Poonam Sharma-6th Radhika Duggal -8th Gopika Nag-10th List of the students got placed in various MNC’s in different batches: In 2006 batch Neha Kapoor, Neha Sharma, Neha Kohli , Nidhita Trisal and Aparna Raina all got palced in the Infosys. In 2007: Neha Bhan got selected in the Wipro, Akhi Abrol, Palak Kapoor and Ruplai Sharma got placed in TCS while Gopika Nag has got placed in Tech Mahindra. In 2008: All the six students, Neha Manhas , Neha Jamwal, Devyani Gupta ,Jayashree , Geetika Sharma and Neetika Sharma have got placed in the Satyam. |
