| JKPS bags inter-school football title | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 20: The JK Public School boys, giving a tough fight to the opponents, clinched the under-19 title in inter-school football tournament. They beat Devan Badri Nath (DBN) School through a `golden goal’ in the final played today under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports at Mini Stadium, Parade here. Earlier, in the stipulated time, the game remained neck to neck with both sides making all out efforts for a breakthrough but failed in their attempts on the goal post. However, in the extra time, JK Public, who were looking better in stamina, won over an equally good side of DBN. Now, JK Public School will be representing Jammu district in the inter-district competitions. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played in the morning session, JK Public School defeated K C Public School by a solitary goal. DBN boys also down their opponent in MHAC Nagbani in similar fashions in another semi-final. In this well contested match, DBN scored the all important goal in the second half of the match. BASKETBALL: The under-19 basketball title went to SRML Higher Secondary School, who beat BSF School 42-33. Earlier, in the semi-finals, SRML outplayed JK Public School 21-12 while BSF School beat MIER 38-15. HANDBALL: The BSF School Paloura boys clinched the handball title in under-19 age group beating SRML Higher Secondary School by seven goals to four. Earlier, in the semi-finals, SRML boys defeated DBN 12-4. Meanwhile, in the under-17 category, HSS Bahu Fort downed BSF School Paloura in a close contest 5-4. |
