| Condemnations flood in over Police action on SAYSS function | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 20: The unwanted police action on the people gathered at Abhinav Theatre for honouring and distributing of cash relief to the dependents of 11 martyrs who sacrificed their precious live over the Shri Amarnath land row has been widely condemned by various political parties, several organizations and intellectuals. Senior congress leader and Ex. MLA, Raman Bhalla while condemning the brutal action of the police on people at the Abhinav Theatre has demanded a judicial probe of police highhandedness. He has asked the administration after getting permission to hold the function, then why then administration in the morning cancelled it. Helding of independent judicial enquiry in the matter is need of the hour. Member parliament, Madan Lal Sharma also condemned police firing on the people, who had gathered at venue to attend the function of Sangarsh Samiti in the honouring the shaheed of Shri Amarnath land row. Criticizing the administration he said it was not proper to cancel the booking of hall at eleven hour, when the people had already gathered to attend the functions and added when the public protested administration used force, which is very unfortunate. He appealed the people and govt keep restrain and avoid confrontation, as the people of Jammu have already suffered a lot. State president of National Congress Party, Th. Randhir Singh expressed his serious concern for canceling the permission duly granted to Seva Bharti a part of Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti to hold the function. He demanded judicial enquiry to expose the elements who are bent upon to destroy the peace of Jammu region. Singh said that all the parents of the agreement should be implemented in letter and spirit signed between Sangarsh Samiti and Baloria committee. The Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) in a statements have said, today’s police firing and lathi charge on the people holding Shardanjali function were brutually beaten by the people and not allowed to enter the Abhinav Theatre to take part in the function. As a protest student of G.G.M Science and Commerce College along with activists of students federation boycotted the classes led by its president Pushvinder Singh and protested against the police. JJSF fully supported the bandh Call given by Sangarsh Samiti and warn the J&K administration not to play with the sentiments of the Jammu region. Meanwhile, president JJSF Pushpinder Singh gave ultimatum of one week to the J&K Govt. to solve the issues of traders, shopkeepers, transporters, farmers, hoteliers etc. otherwise JJSF will launch a mass level agitation to meet with these issues. All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has also condemned the uncalled police action and use of brutal force on the peaceful gathering in the Abhinav Theater here today. The office bearers of hotelier association in an emergency meeting held under the Chairmanship of association President, Inderjeet Khajuria said that the act of the administration to frustrate the holding of function at Abhinav Theater, publicly announced much earlier by Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti to honor the family members of the martyrs and distribute cheques of Rs 4 lakhs each as compensation for those who attained martyrdom during the agitation only betrays the total insensitiveness and out and out anti Jammu attitude of eth Governor’s administration. He said although the Sangrash Samiti had got due permission, after depositing the required fee, for holding the function in the Abhinav Theater, the authorities under some well knit conspiracy cancelled the booking of hall. This is out and out act of provocation to the people of Jammu, who have already demonstration that they will no more bear injustice and be not cowed down by the use of brutal force against them AJHLA, however, advise SAYSS core group that they should take into confidence all the 54 socio-culture, trade and professionals organizations, who were constituents of the Sangrash Samiti and all of whom fought the battle for restoration of land to SASB, before chalking out nay program and line of action. He SAYSS should continue to remain non political and equi distance from all pro Jammu political parties and group. In an emergency meeting the Jammu State Morcha (P) has strongly criticized the state administration for its callous attitude of last minute refusal to allow SAYSS to hold its function to honour the martyrs’ of the recent concluded agitation. The meeting presided over by the Morcha President Prof. Virender Gupta was attended by H.B. Khajuria, Capt. Anil Gour (Retd), Dig Vijay Singh, Virander Magotra, Divender Singh Jamwal, Chandra Udey Sharma and Mahesh Sharma. The Morcha in a press statement issued today observed that highhanded and strong arm methods being used by the State Government in trampling the democratic rights of the people of Jammu to hold this function was highly condemnable. Condemning the action of the government to put a ban on the function of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti at Abhinav Theatre, here today to honour the Martyrs of the recent uprising, the Panun Kashmir Movement has said that ‘this action of the government tantamount to dictatorial system of governance and smacks of a clear mindset to please the anti-national and anti-Jammu elements in Kashmir valley’. In a statement issued here today Ashwani Chrungoo PKM Chief said that “We express our full support to the Sangarsh Samiti’s call of 48 hours Jammu province ‘bandh’ and appeal to the cadres to mobilize public opinion in favour of the bandh and make it successful”. |
