| PM SHOULD VISIT PAKISTAN: MUFTI | | Favours involvement of separatists and militants in the dialogue process | | Jammu, July 9 :-A former Chief Minister and patron of the PDP, Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, has called for involving Kashmiri separatists and militants in the dialogue process on the plea that the Government could address the internal dimensions through "boli(dialogue) and not with Goli(bullet)." Addressing a party convention in Jammu on Sunday Mufti Mohd.Sayeed said that Dr Manmohan Singh should accept the invitation from Pakistan and his visit could further help the process of resolving the external dimensions of the Kashmir issue including the Siachen, Sir Creek and matters related to improving trade ties between the two neighbouring countries. He said that the Government has already initiated the dialogue channels with mainstream political leaders and other prominent citizens. And the dialogue process could prove a successful exercise if the Government involved separatists and militants in the dialogue process. The Mufti said that the Prime Minister's decision to set up five working groups for addressing the internal dimensions was a welcome step. He said that while the Government explored various options for addressing the internal dimensions there was need for holding talks with militants also. While claiming credit for improving the security scenario in the state, when he was the Chief Minister, the Mufti said that it had become imperativefor isolating militants for the Government to involve people in the dialogue process. He said he was a firm believer of resolving the the problems through "boli (dialogue) not with Goli(bullet)." The former Chief Minister said that as head of the Government he had been instrumental in setting free senior separatist leaders which had contributed to the improvement in the situation. He said that the coalition Government had succeeded in implementing the common minimum programme formulated in November 2002 when "we assumed power."Drawing attention of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh towards his recent statement on zero tolerance for human rights violation,Mufti said such incidents are still going on and steps should be taken to check such incidents don’t reoccur. The Mufti reiterated that there was need for a debate on the self rule.He said that once "we are able to have self rule in Jammu and Kashmir we can ask Pakistan whether it has established self rule in occupied Kashmir,Gilgit Skardu." Talking about opening of road links between the two neighbouring countries Mufti said that day is not too far when people in Jammu would be able to go across to Sialkote and visit Nankana sahib after the opening of the suchetgarh sialkote road.
