| Karra seeks Rajouri-Poonch’s economic integration with Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Sept 21: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for timely completion of the Mughal Road to provide much-needed relief to a vast population in Poonch-Rajouri area by way of better connectivity with the Kashmir valley. "I hope the Government would keep its latest commitment of making the Mughal Road jeepable by Eid," senior PDP leader Tariq Hameed Karra said while addressing a day-long convention of the party workers here today. Karra said the recent appalling "economic blockade" enforced against Kashmir valley, Poonch, Rajouri and Doda districts by the Sangh Parivar-sponsored communal elements in Jammu has only reinforced the urgency of making the Mughal Road operational at the earliest. "I have reports that some prejudiced officer in the Forest Department is making last ditch to hamper the work on the road," he said and asked the Government to identify and initiate disciplinary action against the said officer who is trying to act out of turn. Karra said the PDP has made the people of Poonch-Rajouri areas conscious of their rights and nobody can now take them for a ride and exploit them for electoral purposes. He said the people in these areas would be now equal stakeholders and shareholders in the development funds which were denied to them over the years. Senior PDP leaders Abdul Rehman Veeri, Master Tassaduq Hussain, Mohammad Sharief Tariq, Chowdhary Zulfikar and Mohammad Shafi Dar also addressed the convention. |
