| BJP seeks 'bold' policy to put an end to terror | | | AGENCIES BHUBANESWAR, Sept 21: Accusing the UPA government of failing to contain terror attacks, BJP today demanded a "bold" policy to put an end to serial blasts and asked the Congress-led coalition to seek fresh mandate by holding early Lok Sabha polls. "The UPA government has failed miserably to contain terror attacks. It should go for early Lok Sabha elections along with the coming assembly polls in five states," BJP vice-president Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here. Promising to bring a stringent anti-terror law like POTA if BJP comes to power at the Centre, he said though serial bomb attacks were taking place across the country, the government was doing nothing except expressing condolences and announcing compensation. "What we want is a strong and bold policy against terrorism to contain such incidents," the BJP leader said adding that though Pakistan is behind these incidents the Centre is afraid of taking its name. "It seems ISI is more trusted than RSS for the UPA," he said. Terming conversion as the root cause of violence and social disturbances in several states, Naidu said a strong Central law to prevent religious conversion across the country would be brought if BJP regains power. The BJP leader asked the Orissa government to strictly implement the existing anti-conversion law in the state. On the advisory reportedly sent by Centre to some states, Naidu said it is politically motivated and Congress would face the consequences for its "dual policy". Despite largescale violence in Nandigram and Singur in West Bengal and an adverse report by CBI on the incidents, no such advisory was issued as Congress wanted to keep the left parties in good humour, he commented. He also asked the Centre to rush all assistance to the flood-hit Orissa. |
