JSM (P) asks for statehood struggle
9/22/2008 10:55:36 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 22: The Jammu State Morcha (JSM) (P) favors the abrogating of article 370. However it is of the option that all those political parties wanting to make it as an issue in the forthcoming elections are not serious themselves, when in power, this issue was irrelevant for them & they excluded it from their agenda.
The fact is that the abrogation of the article 370 requires a 2/3 majority in the Lok Sabha & J&K state legislature as well. Which Bhartiya Janta Party cannot have in future in both these houses. People of Jammu region must also realize that article 370 has nothing to do with the Kashmiri dominations & the prevalent discrimination against Jammu region. Abrogation of this article is not going to end their sufferings and provide them judicious and equitable share in the state political set up and in the administration. It is only a separate Jammu state that will provide freedom from all these ills.
Addressing the press conference here today Retd. Capt. Anil Gour said, the JSM-P that it stands that if the fresh census and delimitation of the constituencies are not done before the elections then all the political parties must unite together & boycott the forthcoming assembly elections. Due to the passing of the bill by the National Conference in 2002 delimitation of constituencies till 2030 has been effectively blocked and as such people of the Jammu region are going to deprived of their due share in the state legislative and will continue to suffer political deprivation and neglect in all the spheres up to 2030.
