KISHTWAR, Sept 23: Reiterating its resolve to uphold pro people policy based on equal opportunity and political accommodation, PDP today affirmed to work towards the resolution of the socio political and economic problems, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are confronted with.
Speaking at a day long workers convention of Thathri in Kashtwar district, senior PDP leaders Mohammed Dilawar Mir, Peer Mohammad Hussain, Ved Mahajan and Syed Basharat Bukhari asserted that PDP's stand of peace, reconciliation and mutual trust stands vindicated as all the peace loving and democratic forces in the sub continent do favour a lasting solution to the outstanding problems through comprehensive and institutionalized dialogue process. PDP leaders said that Kashmir problem was a festering wound and the recent upheaval should serve as an eye opener to those who want to brush aside the issue. PDP leaders said that the time has come when the political leadership in India and Pakistan move ahead decisively on Kashmir through confidence building taking into account aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
PDP leaders urged upon the government of India to enter into meaningful dialogue with the people of the state to address the internal as well external dimensions of the problem. "People of Kashmir have started a peaceful struggle in favour of their demands and the government of India should respond immediately without loosing the opportunity to bring peace in the region" PDP leaders reiterated their demand of revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, release of detainees, reduction of troops and free cross LoC trade and asserted that it was imperative to build a congenial atmosphere in the state.
Sayed Asgar Ali who also addressed the convention urged upon the administration to make sure the availability f essential commodities in the remote areas.
