| Implementation of watershed schemes stressed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 23: Divisional level Training-Cum- Workshop on the implementation of NWDPRA activities during 2008-09 was organized at Directorate of Agriculture here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture, Vinod Bala Sharma laid stress on implementation of watershed development activities strictly as per the common guidelines for watershed development projects. She emphasized on utilization of funds well in time for executing watershed activities viz establishment of nurseries, construction of water harvesting tanks, digging out ponds, drainage channels, establishment of mushroom units , beekeeping units and other allied soil conservation activities in the watershed development areas for betterment of farming community.
Stress was also laid on registration of new watersheds within seven days.
Out of 55 watersheds of Jammu division, Rs.50 lakh will be spent on 31 registered watersheds in all districts of Jammu. Action plan of Rs.2.33 crore also stand approved by administrative department which is likely to be released in the 3rd quarter. |
