| 10 day Cancer detection camp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 25: With a view to provide quality medical support to the families of Tiger Division, a 10-day ‘Cervical and Breast Cancer Detection Camp’ has been organized today which was inaugurated by Rupa Sharma, President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Rising Star Corps at Tiger Division. The camp is being organized in co-operation with BN General Hospital and Army School Jammu. This camp is an effort to detect the two most common cancers in women above 35 years of age i.e. the ‘Breast Cancer’ and ‘Cervical Cancer’ by relevant screening tests. By conducting this camp the Tiger Division also wants to send across a very strong message i.e. ‘Mother, we care for you’. The children of Army School Jammu have collected and contributed Rupees 1.5 lakh towards the cause. Statistics show that out of 100 cancer patients, 60 suffer from Cervical and Breast Cancer. It is well known that ‘prevention is always better than cure’. Hence, women over 35 years who are more vulnerable to such infections should periodically (once in three years) undergo a thorough checkup under a Gynecologist to detect any such anomalies. |
