BGSBU bags prestigious FIST grant

JAMMU, Mar 15: In a nationwide selection process monitored by high power committee consisting of academicians of high repute, Department of Zoology, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has been selected for the prestigious grant with the provision of maximum outlay of Rs 3 crores under the Fund for Improvement of S&T (FIST) Infrastructure in universities and higher educational Institutions (FIST) Level-1Program by DST, Govt. of India. Out of the 186 institutions which competed for the grant, BGSBU is amoung the 16 which were selected. It is noteworthy that BGSBU is the only Institution got selected from the UT of J&K. The grant is largely to augment the infrastructure facilities by equipping the Department with state-of-the-art instruments to promote high quality research.
Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU expressed his delight and happiness on the great success achieved by the Department of Zoology.
Prof Akbar said that this grant would be utilized in developing high-end infrastructial facilities to enhance the quality of teaching and research.
Terming it as a significant achievement, Prof. Akbar said that this will go a long way to refurbish and further augment the facilities and academic standards at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University. Prof. Akbar Masood said that he is committed to further augment the ambience of teaching and research to the next level of academic excellence to develop BGSBU as nationally and internationally acclaimed University and brand name to reckon with. Prof. Akbar said that the University will provide hassle free ambience to potential researchers to get best out of them.
On the occasion Dr Ali Asghar Shah, HOD Zoology, said that the selection of Department of Zoology for FIST level - 1 grant is proud moment for BGSBU fraternity. He said this grant would be utilized to build a cutting edge S&T infrastructure that will enhance the quality of research being done at BGSBU.
