| It is treason: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 25: Reacting sharply to the joint statement made by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari at the end of their first meeting in US where both the countries agreed upon starting cross LoC trade from October 21,2008, state BJP state president Ashok Khajuria on Thursday dubbed it as 'pro terrorist' decision. The state BJP chief also accused the Congress-led UPA Government of bartering away the paramount national interests by accepting the demand of Kashmiri leaders of all hues to start cross-LoC trade via Uri-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot routes. In a press statement Khajuria said, "by accepting this unsettling and dangerous demand of Kashmiri leaders and by enlisting Pakistani support for this divisive and pro-terrorist decision, the Congress has not only recognized the aggressor Pakistan as a party equal to that of the aggressed upon India, but also defeated the parliamentary resolution of 1994, which had demonstrated the Indian resolve to take from Pakistan all the illegally occupied areas, including POK and Gilgit-Baltistan. "Recognition of Pakistan as a deciding factor in PoK by the Congress Government is an act of treason and the Congress would have to pay a heavy price for this act of betrayal of the national interest", said Khajuria and added that "the opening of cross-LoC trade would facilitate the task of Kashmiri leaders, who have also said that this type of trade, when started, would make Kashmir less dependent on Jammu, on New Delhi and adversely impact the trade links between Kashmir and Jammu leading to the economic destruction of Jammu". |
